I learnt this simple, spicy and yummy tasting chutney from my MIL and i make this chutney as side accompany when i don’t have enough time to make anything with huge preparation. Though it has only handful ingredients the end results seem super vow. So lets get to the recipe!
- Big onion – 1
- Red chili – 4 nos
- Tamarind – tiny piece
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Salt as needed
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Urad dal – 2 tsp
- Hing a pinch
- oil – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves a spring
How to make onion chutney with step by step images
- chop onions. Heat oil in a pan ; add red chili and tamarind ; saute for few seconds.
- Then add chopped onions ; saute till onions turn light brown. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool down.
- Add salt to the mixture and grind it into smooth paste.( I dint add water while grinding but if u want u can add very little water while grinding)
- Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal , curry leaves and a pinch of hing. Remove from flame when dal turns golden brown and add it to the chutney. Serve it with dosa, idly or dish of your choice.
