Sprouted moong dal idli recipe, Sprouts idli

Sprouted moong idli/ Sprouts idli is a soft, fluffy and easy to make healthy idli prepared by adding ground sprouts to regular idli batter and steamed to perfection. Super simple right? Yes this idli also has the goodness of turmeric powder giving it a beautiful yellow color. This idli can be prepared any day you have sprouts ready at home or whenever you get bored with regular idli as it takes just 5 more extra minutes to attain these healthy idli’s. These idli’s can be served with extra spicy coconut chutney (with extra green chili while grinding) and idli chutney powder/ podi. So now you guys know why I posted how to make green moong sprouts at home. I have posted few recipes with sprouts earlier like this Sprouts, Green sprouts pulao, Green moong sprouts biryani, Green moong sprouts stir fry and Sprouts salad.

For this recipe I made the sprouts to a coarse mixture in the blender as I wanted some crunchiness in the idli, but you can make it into fine paste as well and add, remember not to add more water to the paste as it will alter the idli batter consistency. Also make sure to have thick idli batter and if you are look for the recipe here it is Homemade idli batter. So let’s get to the making!

Pour ladle of batter in each idli mold and place the batter filled idli plates in the idli steamer and steam it for 10 to 12 minutes. When done remove the idli plate from the steamer and keep it aside for few seconds/ a minute. After a minute wet a spoon with little water (wetting the spoon with water helps to scoop idli from the idli plate and serve it hot with chutney of your choice.
