Tortilla noodles recipe, Veg tortilla noodles

Tortilla noodles is a quick and easy to make dish prepared by tossing thinly cut tortilla in sauteed veggies. The leftover tortilla/ fresh tortilla can be given this new form and can be served as snack/ dinner or for lunch box. This tortilla noodles is filled with flavors and masala which gives this dish a beautiful appetizing color and to give it a Indian touch as well. I prepared this noodles with whole wheat tortilla which tasted close to our Indian chapati, but you can try preparing it with regular tortilla as well or with leftover chapati as well.  So let’s get to the making!

Ingredients

  • Tortilla – 3 to 4 nos (whole wheat)
  • Onion– 1 (small, thin slices)
  • Chopped veggies – ¾ cup (carrot julienne, capsicum thin slices)
  • Garlic- 1 pod
  • Spring onion – 1
  • Soy sauce – 2 tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Chilli powder- ¼ to ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder- ¼ to ½ tsp
  • Oil – 1 tbsp

* 1 cup = 235 ml


How to make Tortilla noodles with step by step images


  1. Roll the whole wheat tortilla and cut them into thin slices like noodles using scissors/ knife. Keep it aside.  Slice onions ,capsicum, carrot and thin. Chop garlic and spring onions finely. Keep the veggies aside.

  2. Heat oil in a pan to it add sliced onions, white part of spring onion and chopped garlic. Saute well.  Now to the sauteed onions add thinly sliced carrots and capsicum. Saute for 2 minutes.

  3. After 2 minutes add chilli powder, salt and cumin powder. Mix well and add soy sauce. Give it a quick stir.
  4. Now add sliced tortilla noodles and toss well. When everything looks combined add chopped green stalk of spring onion. Mix well and and put off the flame. Serve it hot with ketchup.
