Coconut chutney recipe, How to make coconut chutney

A traditional chutney of South India which serves as side dish for most varieties of breakfast. This is a simple and quick chutney made with coconut and can be prepared within minutes. It tastes delicious even though it has only few ingredients in its preparation. So lets grind it!

Ingredients

  • Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
  • Gram dal – 2 tbsp
  • Green chili – 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for grinding

For seasoning

  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves a spring

How to make coconut chutney with step by step images

 

  1. In blender/mixie add grated coconut , gram dal, green chili and salt. Grind it to chutney consistency by adding little water.
  2. Heat a small pan with oil and add mustard seeds, urad dal , curry leaves and hing. When dal turns golden brown put off the flame and add it to the chutney.
  3. Serve it with idly, ven pongal , dosa or dish of your choice.
