Ingredients
- 1. Wheat Bread slices – 4 (homemade)
- 2. Onion – 1
- 3. Tomato – 1
- 4. Green chilli - 1
- 5. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- 6. Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- 7. Salt – to taste
To temper
- 1. Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- 2. Urad dal – 1 tsp
- 3. Channa dal – 1 tsp
- 4. Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp
- 5. Curry leaves – a spring
- 6. Cilantro/ coriander - few
- 7. Oil – 2 tsp
Instructions
- Chop onions, tomatoes and green chilli finely. Keep it aside. Chop bread slices into squares and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, mustard seeds when it splutters add urad dal and channa dal. When dal turns golden brown add curry leaves, add onions and green chili. Saute well.
- When onions look sauteed add chopped tomato and saute for few seconds. When the tomatoes look little sauteed add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well until raw flavors of masala goes.
- When the raw smell has gone and when tomatoes looks cooked add bread pieces and toss it well until the masala is well coated in masala. Do not sir it well as the bread pieces will break and upma will look like crumbles. When everything looks combines garnish it with coriander leaves. Put off the flame and serve it hot!
