Karupatti paniyaram, Instant palm jaggery paniyaram

Instant karupatti paniyaram/ Karupatti paniyaram is a delicious, healthy and quick to make sweet appam that can be made with handful ingredients instantly. Traditionally this sweet paniyaram is prepared with jaggery like this INSTANT SWEET PANIYARAM and also deep  fried in oil like this SWEET APPAM, but to keep it very healthy I used wheat flour, karupatti/ palm jaggery and made this in appe/ paniyaram pan.

 I thought to share this healthy and yummy sweet appam recipe at this time because KARTHIGAI DEEPAM FESTIVAL is almost there and I thought thus recipe will be really helpful for beginners. Also if you missed to see my previous post regarding karthigai deepam it is here KARUPATTI PORI URUNDAI.

Ingredients
  1. 1. Wheat flour/ Atta – ¾ cup
  2. 2. Rice flour – ¼ cup
  3. 3. Banana – 1 (long variety)
  4. 4. Karupatti – ¼ cup
  5. 5. Water – 1 cup (approx.)
  6. 6. Cashews – 5
  7. 7. Baking soda – ¼ tsp
  8. 8. Ghee – 4 tbsp
Note
  1. * 1 cup = 235 ml
Instructions
  1. In a pan add palm jaggery/karupatti and 1 cup water. Mix well and let the jaggery just dissolve. When the palm jaggery dissolves put off the flame and keep it aside. Peel banana and mash them in a bowl.
  2. Now to the mashed banana add wheat flour, rice flour, elaichi powder, cashews and soda/ baking soda.
  3. Mix it well and add karupatti/ palm jaggery syrup using a strainer. Mix it well to form thick batter. ( I used around 1 cup water of karupatti syrup with the same cup I measured wheat flour).
  4. Now heat paniyaram/ appe pan grease each mold with some ghee, then add batter in each mold. Cover it with a lid and cook.
  5. When the edges brown flip it carefully and cook till done in medium flame with lid on. When done serve it hot.
