Tahini sauce originates from middle east. It is prepared using sesame seeds and is used to enhance or accompanied as condiment for many middle east food. This sauce is easy to make from scratch at home and can be prepared without any hassle. This sauce once prepared can be stored in refrigerator up to 2 weeks in air tight container .So lets grind it!

Ingredients

  • Sesame seeds – 1 cup
  • Garlic – 3 pearls
  • Lemon juice – 1/4th cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – 3/4th cup (app.)
  • Oil – 1 tbsp (app.)

How to make Tahini sauce with step by step images

  1. Dry roast sesame seeds in a small pan.
  2. Then grind sesame seeds in a blender adding little oil.
  3. Then add chopped garlic,lemon juice and salt in the blender and grind them into a paste. You can add litttle water while grinding. I used pulse mode in my mixie to make the sauce
  4. Serve it with falafel and pita bread.

This is another delicacy made with rotta to enhance its taste in another form. It is relished by us for its tanginess and crunchiness. The preparation method for lemon rotta is similar to lemon rice though it requires little preparation. So lets get started!

  • Rotta – 4
  • Lemon – 1 small lemon
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4th tsp
  • Channa dal – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Green chili – 1
  • Red chili – 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves a spring
  • Hing a pinch

How to make lemon rotta with step by step images

  1. Cut rotta into pieces
  2. Squeeze lemon juice and set aside
  3. Heat oil in a pan add red chili and mustard seeds after it splutters add urad dal and channa dal and curry leaves after they turn golden brown add green chili and saute.
  4. Now add turmeric and after a quick stir add lemon juice and salt .
  5. Now put of the flame ; add rotta pieces and mix well.
  6. Serve hot!
