For sesame seeds podi
- 1. Sesame seeds / Til/ Ellu – ½ cup
- 2. Chana dal – 2 tbsp
- 3. Black urad dal – 2 tsp
- 4. Dry red chilli – 2 to 3 nos.
- 5. Curry leaves – few
- 6. Hing – few pinches
- 7. Salt – 1 ½ tsp
For sesame seeds rice
- 1. Rice – 1 cup (cooked)
- 2. Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- 3. Curry leaves – few
- 4. Sesame oil – 2 tsp
Note
- * 1 cup = 235 ml
Instructions
- In a pan dry roast, chana dal, black urad dal, dry red chili, curry leaves in low flame when roasted well add sesame seeds and roast it in low flame until it crackles and turns light brown. Allow the mixture to cool down completely. When the mixture has completely cooled transfer it to a blender, add salt. Grind into corse powder. Just pulse 2 to 3 times. If you pulse more the oil from sesame seeds will change the texture of the podi/ powder.
- Now heat 2 tsp oil in a pan to it add mustard seeds when it splutters add curry leaves to it add cooked rice and required amount of ellu podi according to your taste. Mix well and when everything combined check for salt. Put off the flame and serve it.
