For breakfast I would always prefer just butter as topping but this waffle tastes fantastic when served with chocolate syrup. Waffles can be classic too, just the basic one without cocoa powder or can be made more healthy by using whole wheat flour, flax seed powder, oats and much more. But this recipe is a basic one snd you might probably see all those varieties in future hopefully😜
I love waffles since my 12th std when I first had it Singapore with coconut jam and it still hasn’t changed so I keep making it for breakfast or sometimes to snack on. So let’s get to the making!

- 1. Maida/ All purpose flour- ¾ cup
- 2. Cocoa powder – 1 to 2 tbsp (unsweetened)
- 3. Sugar – 2 tbsp
- 4. Salt – a pinch
- 5. Baking powder – ½ tsp
- 6. Baking soda – a pinch
- 7. Cornstarch- ½ tbsp
- 8. Milk – 1 cup (approx)
- 9. Oil – 3 tbsp
- 10. Vanilla syrup- ½ tsp
- 11. Butter – as needed for greasing waffle iron
- * 1 cup = 235 ml
- Preheat waffle maker. In a bowl add maida/ all purpose flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Mix well.
- Now to the dry ingredients add milk, oil and vanilla syrup. Mix well to get a thick flowing consistency waffle batter. Make sure the mixture has no lumps. Keep this mixture aside.
- Now apply ¼ tsp of butter to the preheated waffle iron. Now pour a laddle of batter in the waffle iron. Make sure it has spread evenly to all the sides of the waffle iron. Now close it and wait for the indication in the waffle maker or cook it for 2 to 3 minutes depending on the size of the waffle and it should be perfect. When both sides look crisp it means the waffle is cooked then remove it with a spatula and smear some butter on it and relish it hot. Repeat the process till all the batter is over.
