Chicken lollipop recipe, How to make chicken lollipop

Chicken lollipop is a very popular and yummy tasting deep fried spicy appetizer/ snack prepared by converting wings to lollipops. This lollipop always tops the party list as it is adored by both kids and adults. This is one such easy recipe which does not require too many ingredients and also is very simple in its making. The tricky part would be the conversion of wings into lollipops but otherwise the making is super simple. For this recipe I have not used food color instead used Kashmiri red chilli powder for color, if you want the lollipop to be more appetizing for the eyes then a pinch of food color can be added. So let’s get to the making!

How to make Chicken lollipop with step by step images

  1. From each chicken wing 2 lollipops can be made, one with lots of meat and the other one with less meat lollipop. Hold the thin end of the wings, then carefully cut through the skin surrounding the bone, using a sawing motion and turning the wing around. When the skin is cut all around, use your knife to scrape down the meat from the bone as shown in the collage above. You might need to cut little more skin to do do. Push the meat down to the other end.
  2. Using your fingers, pull the meat over the fat end of the bone so that it’s inside out as shown in image.
  3. When all the chicken lollipop is ready transfer it to a bowl, to it add ginger garlic paste, salt, pepper powder, chilli powder, soy sauce, lemon juice and egg white. Mix well. Marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Marination helps the chicken to hold masala well.
  4. In another bowl add all purpose flour, corn flour, little salt and chilli powder. Mix well.
  5. Now add the flour mixture little by little to the marinated chicken pieces and coat it well. If want you can add little water. Make sure you don’t make batter like bajji/ pakora batter. Heat oil enough for frying. Make sure the oil is medium hot and not extremely hot which will make the exterior of the lollipop brown quickly and inside will be raw. When the oil is hot enough add chicken lollipop coated in masala and flour. Fry it in medium flame for good 8 to 10 10 minutes until fully cooked. When done remove the chicken lollipop with a slotted spoon and transfer it to a plate with paper towel. Repeat the process till all the chicken is over. Serve it hot.
