Eggless donuts recipe, Baked eggless donuts

I am sure everyone knows about donuts, so let’s not not waste time exploring its web definition. But how many of us know that donuts we consume are fried and uses eggs (okay this eggs part most of us know so give a yay to that). If you know these 2 facts then give urself a big pat as I knew about all these just 5 years back that too only when I made it on my own. Okay so now we know about traditional donuts/ doughnuts let’s know about this post.

As the name goes these donuts/ doughnuts are eggless and baked still resulting in perfect donuts, but if you ask my opinion though it tastes good I liked the traditional ones better for no reason, may be we are used to eating donuts that way. But making these kind of donuts are really fun and interesting if you like to experiment with things in your kitchen or like baking. But I am planning to make baked version again using eggs hopefully that turns out even more yummy.

I am really not an expert at baking but I try to perfect recipes that I know and take inspiration from others or depending on my family preferences and demands sometimes. So here in this recipe I used basic glazing that I like, you can use/ make any glazing of your choice, so I haven’t explained much about it. For making these donuts patience is really a key because rest time/ wait time is more so if you have kids at home better not tell them that your making in the initial stage so that you get your time to make. But otherwise a simple kneading of dough, proofing, baking, glazing and relishing is all we need to do. So let’s get to the making!

Ingredients
  1. 1. All purpose flour – 1 cup
  2. 2. Melted butter – 1 tbsp
  3. 3. Milk – ¼ cup
  4. 4. Yeast – ¾ tsp
  5. 5. Sugar – 1 tsp
  6. 6. Salt – a pinch
For chocolate glazing
  1. 1. Chocolate chips – ½ cup
  2. 2. Butter – 2 tbsp
  3. 3. Corn syrup – 2 tsp
  4. 4. Water – 2 tsp
  5. 5. Vanilla syrup- ¼ tsp (optional)
  6. 6. Desiccated coconut- 3 tbsp
Note
  1. * 1 cup = 235 ml
Instructions
  1. In a bowl/ cup add warm milk, not hot just warm, to it add sugar and yeast. Mix well and keep it aside for 15 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a bowl add all purpose flour, a pinch if salt and melted butter. Mix well and add milk yeast frothy mixture. Combine everything together and knead it into a soft dough.
  3. Now cover the dough with towel/ musljn cloth/ cling wrap and keep the bowl in a warm place. Let it rest for 2 hour to double in size. Now you can happily take rest/ do any other work😉
  4. After 2 hour the dough should have doubled in size. Now flatten the dough with rolling pin with 1/3 thickness. Cut the dough into round shape with the help of a round cutter/ a bowl used at home. Then place a cap or small cutter. Now place the donuts one by one and place it on a non stick baking tray/ a baking tray with parchment/ wax paper. The remaining I knead into a ball again, rolled it out and cut into roundels that way no dough is water, also used the donuts holes. Now allow it to rest for 20 minutes covered with cloth in a warm place.
  5. After an hour your donut would have risen. Preheat oven at 350F / 180C. Now place the tray in the oven and bake it for 10 minutes. When done remove from heat.
  6. Place the donuts on a wire rack and allow it to get warm. I like to dip the donuts in glaze when its warm as it coats well.
  7. In a bowl add chocolate chips/ morsels, corn syrup, water and butter. Microwave for 30 to 30 secs. Mix it well until it is combined well and reaches watery consistency. If it does melt in 30 seconds, microwave for 10 to 20 seconds more. Make sure the chocolate does not burn.
  8. ow dip the donut in chocolate glazing and place it on a wire rack. Serve it as it is or top it with chocolate chips, desiccated coconut, powdered sugar, sprinkles or any other topping of your choice.
