Gulab jamun trifle, How to make Indian fusion dessert

Gulab Jamun Trifle is a rich and delicious Indian fusion dessert. It consists 3 layers of awesomeness which can he relished with a spoon from a glass. Very ingenious right??

This cold jamun trifle consists of 3 simple yet delish layers:
Crumbled biscuits/ crackers

A layer of custard

Crumbled juicy gulab jamun


Finally topped with whipped cream and Jamun.

If you are hosting/ attending Diwali party or potluck do try this recipe. It gives a twist/ elevate the taste of homemade Gulab jamun.

I am sure all your friends and loved ones will definitely love it. All you need is handful ingredients and and very little time to prepare it.

This recipe makes 2 trifle cups only. So if you want to make more just double the quantity. Also you could use either homemade or store bought gulab jamun. Do try this Trifle with gulab jamun recipe and let me know your feedback!

Ingredients
  1. 1. Gulab jamun – 6 nos.
  2. 2. Milk – 1 cup
  3. 3. Sugar – 2 to 4 tbsp
  4. 4. Custard powder – 1 tbsp
  5. 5. Biscuits – 5
  6. 6. Pistachios – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  7. 7. Whipping cream – ½ cup
  8. 8. Powdered sugar – 1 tbsp
Note
  1. * 1 cup = 235 ml
Instructions
  1. In ¼ cup of cold milk add custard powder and mix well without any lumps. Keep this mixture aside.
  2. In a pan add milk and let it boil. When the milk starts to boil add sugar and mix well.
  3. Now put the flame to low and add the custard mixture and keep stirring continuously else it will form lumps. Within few minutes the mixture will start to thicken at that point put off the flame and keep it aside. Let it cool down. Meanwhile, Grind biscuits ( marie gold/ Digestive biscuits) to powder in a blender and keep it aside.
  4. Now in a wide bowl add ½ cup whipped cream and powdered sugar. Using a hand blender beat the cream until soft peaks form. The frosting should look light and thick in consistency.
  5. Now add the frosting to the pastry bag/ piping bag with star nozzle or any nozzle of your choice. Keep it aside.
  6. In a serving glass add 2 tbsp of crumbled biscuits as first layer, then top it with 1/3 cup if custard on it place 2 gulab jamuns crumbled.
  7. Finally, add the frosting/ whipped cream layer by making swirls or piping designs on the custard layer. Make sure this layer is dense and covers the wide mouth of the glass so that the others layers remain as a surprise. Finally top the cake single Gulab Jamun and garnish it with chopped pistachios. Refrigerate it for 10 minutes and relish the trifle. .
