Green gram dal sundal/ Pachai payaru sundal is a protein rich delicious sundal that can be served as prasad/ evening snack. So sundal is usually a savory snack but it can be made in sweet version too like this GREEN GRAM SWEET SUNDAL which I posted last year and was a super hit in the blog. I have been really busy these and couldn’t concentrate much on blog, but definitely wanted to post at least one recipe and I am glad it happened. I know its a very simple recipe compared to last year post spamming I did . Do you guys want to see the??

My mom prepares different kinds if sundal all the 9 days and this sundal sweet and savory version is my all time favorite one. Made with handful basic ingredients and in no time our sundal will be ready for the evening. So let’s get to the making Green gram dal sundal!

Ingredients
  1. 1. Green gram dal/ Pachai payaru – 1 cup
  2. 2. Grated Coconut – 2 tbsp
  3. 3. Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  4. 4. Urad dal – 1 tsp
  5. 5. Dried red chilli - 2
  6. 6. Oil – 1 tbsp
  7. 7. Hing - a pinch
  8. 8. Salt - as needed
  9. 9. Curry leaves - a sprig
Note
  1. * 1 cup = 235 ml
Instructions
  1. Wash and soak green gram dal in enough water overnight or for 8 hours.
  2. After 8 hours of soaking transfer the soaked green gram dal to cooker add 1 cup water and salt. Pressure cook dal for only 1 whistle. 1 whistle is more than enough as it soaked for 8 hours, too many whistles.
  3. When the pressure has subsided completely open the cooker. Keep this aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds after it splutters, add urad dal after it turns golden brown add dried red chili, curry leaves and hing. When flavorful add cooked green gram/ pachai payaru and salt if required. Mix well and after few seconds add grated coconut, Mix everything well and put off the flame and serve it!

How to make Pachai payaru sundal with step by step images
