Soya chunk fry recipe, Meal maker fry

Soya chunk/ Meal maker fry is a simple and quick to make side dish prepared with few basic ingredients. This soya chunk fry tastes great when served with simple pulao/ roti. This can be easily prepared on working days and is a lunch box friendly dish as it is fry/ masala which means no leaking/ mess. For more flavor and crunchiness you can try adding capsicum slices to this dish. So lets get to the making!

Ingredients
  1. 1. Soya chunks/ Meal maker – 1 cup
  2. 2. Onion – 1 (medium sized)
  3. 3. Tomato – 1 (large sized)
  4. 4. Green chilli – 2
  5. 5. Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  6. 6. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  7. 7. Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  8. 8. Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
  9. 9. Salt – to taste
  10. 10. Cumin seeds/ Jeera – ¼ tsp
  11. 11. Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp (chopped)
  12. 12. Oil – 1 tbsp
Note
  1. * 1 cup = 235 ml
Instructions
  1. In a pot of water add salt. When the water starts boiling add soya chunks in it. Allow the mixture to boil well for 8 to 10 minutes. Allow the soya chunks in the water for 5 minutes. After 15 minutes you will notice soya chunk double in size. Drain the water and squeeze excess water from soya chunk and allow it to cool down.
  2. Now heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds when it splutters add sliced onions and green chilli. Saute well. When onions look sauteed add ginger garlic paste to it and saute until the raw smell goes.
  3. Now add the chopped tomatoes along with salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala powder. Mix well. Cook the mixture till the tomatoes get soft.
  4. When tomatoes are soft enough add cooked soya chunks and ¼ cup water mix well. Allow the soya chunks to coat in masala well. When everything looks combined and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves. Serve it hot with pulao, chapati or roti!
