Gobi 65 rice is a spicy, flavorful and a yummy Indo chinese based rice dish that is also a one pot recipe. So basically this gobi 65 fried rice is prepared by adding fried gobi 65 to Indo chinese style fried rice; which is also enhanced with strong Indian flavors like garam masala and chilli powder.

However interesting it sounds that delish it tastes as well. So I came across this gobi 65 fried rice recipe in a restaurant in New York, and wanted to it try it. So kept searching for its rice recipe. The end product appeared to be similar but the recipe and its making differed vastly. So after all the recipe hunt I re-wrote the recipe in a style that can almost match to the taste that I had in a New York restaurant.

Gobi 65 rice is a spicy, flavorful and a yummy Indo chinese based rice dish that is also a one pot recipe.

Ingredients to make  Gobi 65 fried rice

  • 2 cups, Basmati Rice (cooked with 2.5 cups water)

  • 1 nos., Onion (small sized)

  • 1/2 cup, Capsicum (thin slices)

  • 2 tablespoon, Spring onion (finely chopped)

  • 1 nos., Green chilli

  • 1 teaspoon, Ginger garlic paste

  • 1/2 teaspoon, Garam masala powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon, Chilli powder

  • 1 teaspoon, Soya sauce

  • Salt – to taste

  • 2 tablespoon, Oil

  • INGREDIENTS TO MAKE GOBI 65
  • 1 nos., Gobi/ Cauliflower (small)

  • 1/2 teaspoon, Ginger garlic paste

  • 4 tablespoon, Rice flour

  • 1 teaspoon, Chilli powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon, Cumin powder (optional)

  • Oil – for shallow fry

Directions to make Gobi 65 fried rice

  • Take a small sized cauliflower and cut individual floret and keep it aside. Put the florets in a colander and run it under hot water for few seconds or blanch it in hot water for few seconds. Anyway it works. Keep the basmati rice ready (pressure cook with 2.5 cups water for 4 whistles). Make sure the rice has to look into individual grains.
  • In a wide bowl add gobi florets rice flour, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, cumin powder and salt. Mix well. Now add 2 tbsp water so that the gobi gets coated well in masala.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Now drop individual batter coated cauliflower florets in oil one by one. Fry them until desired color is achieved with cooked interior. When done remove the cauliflower using a slotted spoon and transfer it to a plate with paper towel.
  • Slice onions thin, capsicum into julienne and slice green chilli. Now heat oil in a pan, add onions white part from spring onion and chili. Saute well. Now add ginger garlic paste and saute well.
  • Now add chopped green pepper/ capsicum saute well. Now add garam masala, red chilli powder, pepper powder, salt and soy sauce. Mix well. Now add cooked basmati rice and toss well.
  • Now add fried gobi to the rice and mix well. Now garnish the green stalks of spring onion and serve it hot!!

  • * 1 cup = 235 ml

HOW TO MAKE GOBI 65 RICE WITH STEP BY STEP IMAGES
