Ingredients
  1. 1. Nethram pazham – 1
  2. 2. Maida – ¾ cup
  3. 3. Rice flour – ¼ cup
  4. 4. Water – around ¾ cup (approx.)
  5. 5. Sugar – 2 tbsp
  6. 6. Salt – ¼ tsp
  7. 7. Baking soda – ¼ tsp
  8. 8. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  9. 9. Oil – for deep frying
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a frying pan. In a bowl add maida, rice flour, salt, turmeric powder, baking soda and sugar. Mix well, add water gradually to form a thick batter( I used around Âľ cup water).
  2. Peel and chop banana into halves. Now slice the banana or ripened plantain thick slices or thin slices as per your taste. (not to thin nor too thick) I sliced it thin as we like it that way, but if you like the original version of thick slices you can do it that way too. Do this just after you prepare your batter as we don’t want the banana to turn black.
  3. Dip the banana slices in maida batter well and drop it i preheated oil. Deep fry them in medium heat. Repeat the process until you finish the batter and banana. Flip the fritter after it has puffed. When both sides are cooked remove from oil and transfer it to a plate and serve it!
  4. Note
  5. Make the batter thick which will help batter coat well on to the banana slices.
  6. Prepare batter first then slice the banana so that they don’t turn brown.
  7. Make sure the hot is in right temperature not too high and not too low.
