Chicken tikka recipe, How to make chicken tikka

Chicken tikka a very popular dish that is loaded with flavorful and succulent pieces of chicken and veggies originating from Indian and pakistan. Chicken tikka is traditionally prepared in clay oven called tandoor which is actually the reason behind its taste and flavors in addition to the veggies and tandoori masala. At home we can easily make this restaurant style chicken tikka in oven in no time. Preparing tandoor chicken/ chicken tikka is much easier than preparing gravy or biryani. Bcoz all you need to do is mix all the ingredients, marinate and bake it in the oven,, voila it will be ready. In this recipe I showed How to prepare this delish chicken tikka oven ,but sometime later I will post the same recipe prepared in stove top method too. For the below recipe I used chicken breast from foster farms brand as I couldn’t get fresh chicken but making this recipe with fresh chicken makes it more appetizing also I have not added any food color. Always use good colored red chili powder for best colorful output and that is what I believe. This chicken tikka can be consumed as starter or served as side along with biryani, pulao or any other main dish. So lets get the making!

  11. 11. Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  12. 12. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  13. 13. Salt – to taste
  14. 14. Oil – 4 tsp
Note
  1. * 1 cup = 235 ml
Instructions
  1. Wash and clean chicken breast well. Chop each chicken breast into 3 or 4 pieces. We need medium sized chunks and not small ones as the chicken will end up shrinking when baked.
  2. Now in a wide bowl add curd, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt, coriander powder, lemon juice and ginger garlic paste. Mix well until combined. Now add chopped chicken breast and mix well. Marinate it for about 30 minutes at least. For best results marinate it overnight.
  3. After marinating the chicken for preferred time add all the chopped veggies.
  4. Preheat oven at 400 degree. Now line a baking tray with aluminum foil. Take each skewer and thread the chicken pieces and veggies in the order that best suits your taste. I placed then in this order chicken piece, green capsicum, red capsicum, onion and tomato and repeated the same.
  5. Now arrange the skewers on the foil placed on the baking tray. Add 2 tbsp oil over every skewer with chicken and veggies. Now bake the chicken for 35 – 40 minutes.
  6. I flipped it once and you can see the final result was little charred one just as the restaurant which actually brings all the flavors to the chicken. When the chicken has achieved desired levels of cooking take the tray out and serve it hot !
